Aberdeenshire swimmer Hannah Miley won Scotland’s first gold medal in the pool on the opening day of the Commonwealth Games.
The 24-year-old from Inverurie produced a record-breaking performance in the 400m medley in front of an ecstatic crowd in Glasgow,
She edged out England’s Aimee Willmott and smashed her own Games record in a time of 4min 31.76sec.
Miley had already broken the record in her heat earlier in the day.
The jubilant swimmer said: “I literally couldn’t feel my legs in the last 50 metres so when I touched the wall I was hoping and praying that I could beat my fastest time of the season.”
