It has been great watching the UK athletes winning medal after medal at the Commonwealth games and at the European Championships.
At Lochter Fishery, there have been some Gold medal performances at the Oldmeldrum venue.
The cooler weather led to a considerable drop in water temperatures and this fairly brought the fish on the feed, resulting in some cracking sport.
Albert Trail had a terrific day returning 20 on PTN’s, while Dave Simpson and the two Duncans up from Arbroath could do no wrong. Using a mixture of Blobs, black and green lures and Buzzers they had 40 between them keeping just two and returning the rest including several in the four to six pound class.
Bill Bain was in top form with 18 to his name all attracted by his favourite black Nomad. The Daniels from Peterhead used the ever successful WSW to bank 28 between the two of them , all from the Muckle Troot.
There were plenty of bags of seven or eight which makes for a good days fishing and the evening angling has been top notch on the calmer nights.
The forecast is for the cool weather to continue which is good news for anglers and with the trout beginning to feed up for winter there will be plenty of action to be had.
