This week Inverurie Smile Care announced a new partnership between themselves and the Garioch Amateur Swimming team.
They will be sponsoring the team by providing poolside clothing for all of the five swimming squads.
Inverurie Smile Care opened its doors in August 2014 and the practice owner Navin Aziz was delighted to become involved with the Garioch Swimming team.
Navin said: “We have received such a warm welcome in Inverurie and we wanted to find a way to give back to the community and felt like this was a great opportunity for us to support the people around us.”
The squads operate at every level, from current Commonwealth 400m IM Champion Hannah Miley and Scottish Womens 400m IM Champion Orla Adams in the performance squad to those in squad 1 who are starting to become involved in serious competition for the first time.
In total there are around 40 swimmers in the competition squads, the youngest of whom is aged just nine and even at this age they will be training for two hours before school on a Friday, showing the amazing levels of commitment swimming takes, by the time they get to squad 4 or 5 they will be swimming 15-20 hours a week equivalent to between 1.5 and 2 million metres a year!
Club president David Adams said: “We are extremely pleased to present Inverurie Smile Care and Navin and his team this framed picture of the sponsored kit, signed by Hannah Miley.
“Sealing this great partnership between GASC and the practice into the future.
David presented Navin Aziz with a framed new look shirt which all the squad swimmers have been provided with.
Looking ahead to the future the club is very excited about the new pool which will be built as part of the Inverurie Academy which was recently given the go ahead, replacing the current pool which has been operating since May 1970.
