THE Garioch Amateur Swimming Club’s youngest swimmers were in action on Saturday, (February 8), at the Peterhead Graded Age Meet.
There were some very impressive performances throughout the day, with 10 swimmers achieving personal best times in each of their races and plenty of medals being won.
Finley Cousins (10) won gold inthe100 breast and bronze in the 100 fly; Cameron Crawford (12) won bronze in the 100 back; Caitlin Dick won gold in the 100 breast and silver in the 100 back; Christy Johnston (14) won bronze in the 200 breast; Daniel McNally (14) won gold in the 100 breast; Lauren McPhee (12) won bronze in the 100 back; Conner Morrison (16) was first in the 100 breast, and in the 100 back, and took bronze in the 100 fly; Gemma Ogg (12) won gold in the 100 breast; David Smith won gold in the 200 breast; Hannah Strachan (11) won silver in the 100 breast; Bill Whitcomb (10) won silver in the 100 breast and in the 100 back.
Avery Collins, Max Hitchcox, Fraser Johnston, Heather McIntosh, Daniel McKenzie, Nicholas Nightingale, Nicole Ogg, Spencer O’Grady, Finley Owen and Lauren Stewart all swam with spirit, gaining valuable experience of racing and achieving a number of good personal best times.
Coach Mandi Crawford marshalled her troops with customary skill and enthusiasm and received excellent support from Sam Hull-Bailey and Rob McPhee.
The club is fortunate to have such committed coaches working with this very promising group of swimmers.
The club was also well supported by a variety of parents who took on officiating roles with their usual dedicated good humour.
