Youngsters shine at Kemnay

THE Benachie Bowling Association Junior Singles competition was held on Sunday (June 17)at Vice-President Bill Nicol’s Kemnay Bowling Club.

The weather was cold and wet but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the 13 participating young bowlers who put on a brilliant show of bowling for the spectators, especially the game between Balgownie’s Andrew Ewen and the home club’s Jemma Lingard. 24 ends were played before a winner emerged in the form of Jemma who won 15 – 13. Only four ends in the match resulted in two shots and only one shot on the other 20 ends. However Jemma went out in the next round to Kevin Murray of Westhill but she is certainly a name to watch out for in the future.

The semi-final between Inverurie clubmates Martyn Thomson and Carla Banks was another exciting match with Martyn edging home 21-19 and now meets Carla’s brother Jason in the final on 19 August.
