The first cyclo cross races of the 2015 cycling season started last weekend.
Ythan CC youth rider Callum Cooper wasted no time in starting off where he left things in 2014 by taking a comfortable win at the Haughcross Cyclo Cross Festival in Aberdour, Fife.
The Peterhead Academy pupil had to overcome a mechanical, when a dropped chain caused him to lose the lead he had established, but he quickly regained the lead to secure another impressive victory.
At Fordoun the annual Coffee Pot 50 mile TT was taking place and Ythan’s Mike Giles produced a strong effort to finish in 15th place with a time of 2hrs 3m 34s.
Race winner was Jon Entwhistle (Deeside Thistle) who broke the course record with a stunning time of 1hr 50m 27s, a performance that showed his intentions for the forthcoming National 100 mile TT Championships which will be held on two laps of the same course.
