Race debutant Rob Sinclair took top spot in this year’s Cetco Ythan Challenge, winning by more than three minutes.
Not knowing what to expect, the Insch Trail Runners Club member decided to latch on to a group who started quickly. But when the pace slowed early on the 26-year-old still felt comfortable and went out on his own.
Rob, of Turriff, didn’t look back and finished ahead of his friend Sam Milton with a time of 49.32m.
He said: “A few of the lads went off fast so I just went for it with them. I kept with them but when it slowed a bit I felt good so kept going and didn’t look back.
“I’ve had a lot of races in the last month and a couple more coming up so I just went out to do it and had no real expectations as it was the first time doing a race with obstacles in it. It’s a new thing for me and if I knew for next year I could probably push on a bit more. But I’m chuffed with a time sub 50 minutes.”
