For dance aficionados, Scottish Ballet will stage two newly-premiered dazzling productions at His Majesty’s Theatre.

Elsa Canasta and New Work will be staged on Friday and Saturday, October 9 and 10, and Christopher Hampson’s enchanting and magical Cinderella, from Wednesday to Saturday, January 20 to 23.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, March 10, online at, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.

The staging of Elsa Canasta will be a Scottish Ballet premiere from renowned choreographer Javier de Frutos, and it is a dark, funny and sexy evocation of the music of Cole Porter, set to his ballet score Within the Quota and a medley of his songs.

Scottish Ballet artistic director Christopher Hampson says: “After spending time observing the Company, Javier plans to re-stage his work with specific, and surprising, changes in mind to ensure that this version of Elsa Canasta is unique to Scottish Ballet.”

This being premiered with Scottish Ballet, New Work will mark the first time that Bryan Arias has ever presented work within the UK.

Winner of the sixth Copenhagen International Choreography Competition in 2013, he will be creating a new work that showcases his unique blend of dance styles.

And the enchanted, magical world of Christopher’s Cinderella, originally created for the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2007, brings a most beloved fairy tale to the stage at His Majesty’s Theatre.

In a ravishing interpretation of the timeless rags-to-riches romance, acclaimed New Zealand designer Tracy Grant Lord’s luxurious costumes and extravagant sets create a glittering fantasy world peopled with characters that are touching, funny and real, dazzling against the light and dark of Prokofiev’s powerful score.
