Tickets for Wicked, the global musical phenomenon that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, have gone on sale at His Majesty’s Theatre, with ticket buyers waiting in line at the Box Office from 6am on Thursday.
Aberdeen Performing Arts staff provided hot drinks, umbrellas and Wicked cupcakes to fans, with the first 100 customers being gifted a CD of the original Broadway cast recording.
The first customer to book tickets to the sensational show, Joy McIntosh from Elgin, was presented with a bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion.
Michael McCabe, executive producer (UK & Ireland) of Wicked said: “We have all been truly overwhelmed by the response of ticket buyers in Aberdeen. The city seems to have really embraced Wicked and we’d like to thank the venue staff for all their hard work as well as the ticket buyers themselves.
“We all very much look forward to our arrival at His Majesty’s Theatre in 2015”.
Jane Spiers, chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts, the company which operates His Majesty’s Theatre, said: “Tickets really are flying out the door for Wicked. The response has been overwhelming as you would expect for one of the most phenomenally successful musicals in the world.”
The strictly limited 4-week season at His Majesty’s Theatre will run from Tuesday, May 5 until Saturday, May 30, 2015 as part of the award-winning musical’s major UK and Ireland Tour. Wicked has already been seen by over 38 million people around the world.
